Terms of service

The rules for using StudyVisually: who can sign up, what each plan includes, monthly AI limits, payments and refunds, and who owns the material you bring.

Last updated

The short version

  • You must be 13 or older. Under 18, a parent or guardian must agree first.
  • Studying is free. Basic and Premium add more AI, renew until you cancel, and can be refunded in full within 14 days of your first payment.
  • AI features have monthly limits and a fair-use ceiling. When you reach one, AI waits for the next reset; studying never stops.
  • Material you bring stays yours. Make sure you are allowed to use it, and check what AI writes: it can be wrong.
  • Don't abuse the service, other learners or the limits.

1.Agreeing to these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and StudyVisually, which is run from the United States. By using the site or the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use StudyVisually.

How we handle your data is in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

2.Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age where your country lets you agree to a contract yourself, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them for you. Only a parent or guardian can buy a paid plan for someone under 18.

3.Your account

You can study without an account. To sync progress or use AI, you sign in with a code we email you. Anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you, so keep your email account safe.

You can change your account's email address in My account. It changes once you enter the code we send to the new address (and sometimes one sent to the old address too). Signing out everywhere in My account ends your sign-in on every device.

One account is for one person. Don't share it, and don't make extra accounts to get more free AI use.

4.Plans

  • Free costs nothing. It includes every ready-made subject, every study mode and saved progress, plus 5 AI decks a month from your own notes.
  • Basic costs $4 a month or $40 a year. Premium costs $8 a month or $80 a year. Both add more AI decks, bigger uploads and more AI feedback.
  • Teacher is free for teachers we approve. We can end it at any time, for example if the school details turn out to be wrong, and the class links stop working when we do. It also ends if your sign-in email changes to an address that is not at your school's website.

5.AI limits and the fair-use ceiling

Each plan's monthly AI limits are on the pricing page. Every account also has a monthly fair-use ceiling on what its AI use costs us. If you reach a limit or the ceiling, AI features wait until the next reset, and the app tells you the date. Studying keeps working.

AI can also pause for everyone until the next month if the whole service reaches its monthly AI budget. Saved explanations and everything else in the app keep working while it is paused.

We may change limits and prices. A new price applies from your next billing date, and we will tell you before it does.

6.Payments, cancelling and refunds

Creem sells paid plans for us as the seller of record. It takes the payment, adds any sales tax or VAT, and sends the receipt. Creem's buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

A paid plan renews each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Plans screen. Your plan then stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing more is charged.

If you switch plan, or between monthly and yearly, the change happens at once. Creem charges the difference for the rest of the current period.

Changed your mind? Email contact@studyvisually.com within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full. Later payments are not refunded, except where the law where you live says they must be.

If you move to Free, decks made on a paid plan stay for you to study. You can no longer edit or remake them until you pick a paid plan again.

7.Material you bring

Notes, files and answers you add stay yours. You let us store them and send them to the AI service we use, only to give you the features you asked for. Deleting a deck deletes its material.

Only add material you have the right to use. Don't add other people's private details, or anything illegal, hateful or meant to harm someone.

9.AI can be wrong

Decks, grades and explanations written by AI can contain mistakes. Check them against your own material, and fix or delete any card that is wrong. Nothing on the site or in the app is professional advice (medical, legal, financial or otherwise), and no result is promised in any exam.

10.Our content

Lessons, ready-made subjects, Tok the mascot and the app itself belong to StudyVisually or to the people we credit on the page. You may study them, link to them and quote short parts with a link back. Don't copy whole subjects or lesson pages to publish or sell elsewhere. Open textbook material keeps its own licence, named on the page where it appears.

11.Using it fairly

Please don't:

  • try to get around plan limits, the fair-use ceiling or the bot check,
  • call our API from your own scripts, or copy the site in bulk with automated tools beyond what robots.txt allows,
  • try to break into accounts, the database or other people's decks,
  • use AI features to produce anything illegal or harmful,
  • slow down or overload the service.

12.Ending the agreement

You can stop using StudyVisually at any time. To delete your account and its data, use Delete account in My account: a paid plan is cancelled straight away, the account keeps working for 7 days in case you change your mind, and then it is removed. If you can't sign in, email contact@studyvisually.com and we do it within 7 days.

If you break these terms, we may limit AI use, turn off share links, or suspend or close your account. Where we can, we will tell you why first.

13.Our responsibility

We work to keep StudyVisually running and your progress safe, but we provide it "as is". It may sometimes be down, slow or wrong, and we can change or remove features. Keep an export of any progress you can't afford to lose.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as a missed exam or lost study time. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.

14.Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. If you live somewhere else, the consumer protections of your own country still apply to you. Before taking any legal step, please email us: most problems can be fixed by talking.

15.Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the "last updated" date at the top changes too. If a change affects your plan or what you pay, we will show a note in the app before it applies. Using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
