- ReflectionFlipping a shape over a mirror line so each point lands the same distance on the other side.
- RotationTurning a shape around a fixed point, called the centre of rotation, by a certain angle and direction.
- TranslationSliding a shape without turning or flipping it. Every point moves the same distance in the same direction.
- EnlargementMaking a shape bigger or smaller by a scale factor, from a fixed point called the centre of enlargement.
- Congruent shapesShapes that are exactly the same size and shape. One can be moved onto the other by sliding, turning or flipping.
- Similar shapesShapes with the same angles but different sizes. Matching sides are in the same ratio, called the scale factor.
- BearingsA way to give a direction as an angle measured clockwise from north, always with three digits.
- VectorsA vector has both a size and a direction. It is written as a column of numbers showing the move across and up.
- ConstructionsAccurate drawings made with a pair of compasses and a ruler, without measuring angles.
